Session: Expert Talks Wed PM
Memento wants to make browsing the web of the past easy, and we want your help to get there! Have you ever bookmarked a page, and then when revisiting it later found it gone or totally irrelevant? The Memento solution uses web content negotiation to make navigating in the past as seamless an experience as possible by taking the user straight to archived content. This challenge, funded by DevCSI, is to create or improve the tools available for Memento. Perhaps you'd like to build a browser extension that handles it, or build the server side solution into your favourite CMS. For more information, please see: http://www.mementoweb.org/guide/
An example timegate is available at: http://mementoproxy.lanl.gov/aggr/timegate/URI_HERE
And example timebundles are available at: http://mementoproxy.lanl.gov/aggr/timebundle/URI_HERE
The California Digital Library has a TimeGate available at: http://webarchives.cdlib.org/wayback.memento/timegate/URI_HERE
And a list of interesting URIs to try with more than 3 Mementos available: https://confluence.ucop.edu/display/Curation/MementoURLs
When you see Brad Tofel around at #dev8D bug him to make the Internet Archive Timegate Live :)
