Multicore Processing - Session 1

Organised by

If you are thinking of getting involved in this session, you may want to add your name below:

Introduction

The aim of the session is to get linked data from http://data.gov.uk/ and then use the incanter library to look for correlations in the data. We'll parallelize the data processing and investigate the different approaches to multicore processing enabled by the Software Transactional Memory features in Clojure.

To keep things from getting too serious (and to avoid exceeding my expertise with stats, which is slight), we'll be looking for humorous and spurious correlations, of the type displayed in the abstract of this paper http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ci700332k

I'll help people out with the clojure bits, but it will really help if you've had a look at a basic tutorial, or better, been to the Clojure Dojo.
