Nature network is a social network for scientists. Within the network one can create uni-directional and bi-directional links with other members of the network.

We will be launching a revamped version of the site in late Feb early March. One of the key aspects of the new site is that we are building in an OpenSocial framework. Our implementation is based on top of Shindig http://incubator.apache.org/shindig/, and on initial launch we will be supporting OpenSocial v0.8.1. We intend to upgrade to 1.0 when it is formalised, however when we started building the project OpenSocial v0.8.1 was the only one available to us.

Content of this session will be:

- Introduce OpenSocial v0.8.1 REST specification - Explain what namespaces in that specification Nature Network supports - Show how to explore information that is exposed through our API - Build a simple web app that converts a NN profile page into a foaf file for their network. - Possibly look at converting the activity stream available from NN into an activitystream.us standard RSS feed.

Probably pick to play around with this stuff will be Python, and I'll probably try to build up a service on either Google App Engine or in Google Wave. Anwar
